We're asking for your generous donations, and we understand your desire to know where your contribution will be allocated. Allow us to outline how we plan to invest the funds raised this evening into our the education programs of our Parish community.
Traditionally, this event has supported the Parents Association for Ascension School, and this will continue. Funds raised will also support a new service program being implemented at Ascension School. Below is a breakdown of the Parents Association budget. Additionally, the Little School will also receive funding from tonight's event, eliminating the need for separate fundraising efforts. Lastly, we are proposing upgrades to the Gymnasium space, a facility utilized by the entire Parish community. Here's a breakdown of the numbers:
The next Gala is planned for late Fall of 2025 so we are budgeting for the Gala to fund the Parents Association through the 2026 school year. This includes various allocations:
- The Parents’ Association operating budget for the 2024-2025 school year is $53,500 which includes new initiatives including annual literacy and math events & guest speakers totaling $4,500
Proposed budget categories:
- All-School Events (Parent Mass receptions, Field Day, VIP Day, Open House, recess equipment) - 33%
- Teacher Support and Appreciation (Classroom startup fund for teachers, snacks for teachers lounge 6x times per year, teachers’ luncheon 4x per year, Teacher Appreciation Week, etc.) - 30%
- Grade Specific Events (middle school camp bus, First Reconciliation reception, First Communion retreat, etc.) - 18%
- Community Events (Fair Ascension inflatables, Trunk or Treat, Veterans’ Day, etc.) - 12%
- General Expenses (paper products, electronic sign-up subscriptions, etc.) - 7%
- For the 2025-2026 school year, the PA proposes a $55,000 operating budget
Ascension Catholic School is introducing a new service program for students. Funds are needed to safely transport students to off-campus service opportunities. The cost of this is due to the large number of students in our school.
- $15,000 for busses for the 2024-2025 school year
- $15,000 for busses for the 2025-2026 school year
The Little School is in need of funds for the following:
- Addition of climbing structures to the Little School playground to enhance gross motor skills
- Acquisition of new trikes to facilitate gross motor play
- Upgrading manipulatives in each classroom
- Installation of dividers in the boys' bathroom to ensure privacy
(The above needs represent a total investment of approximately $5,000. Additional funds will be allocated to the Little School, as determined by total funds raised by the Gala).
Lastly, a budget of $45,500 has been allocated for gymnasium upgrades as per the contractor proposal from Color Art. These are much-needed technology improvements to this space, which is utilized by our broader Parish community. This comprehensive upgrade package encompasses the installation of a state-of-the-art 164" auto-controlled wall-mounted screen, alongside a wireless projector designed to eliminate unsafe cords along the gym floor. Additionally, the proposal incorporates a protective cage and controls strategically positioned in the utility closet, ensuring seamless operation with on/off and up/down functionalities. The proposal includes all necessary equipment and labor fees, with an estimated installation timeline of 6 to 8 weeks.
Your contributions to the education programs of Ascension Catholic Church are deeply appreciated and will be stewarded to bear good fruit. We invite you to join us to celebrate the enduring legacy of our educational programs as we embark on the next century of our Parish’s journey.
